In the Rosedale Grandmont neighborhood of Detroit, Susan Murphy is realizing her dream of creating a beloved community of community booklovers. She is a testament to Detroit grit and successful, destination-driven retail entrepreneurship.

Once they met at a local event in 2016, Susan and Chris decided Utmost would help her clearly and authentically focus the Pages Bookshop. It was a handshake deal, and one our favorite projects.

STRATEGY

“Books are an exploration. At Pages, we provide a place for you to become comfortably lost within our curated selection of literary fiction, nonfiction, and children’s literature. Come make yourself at home.”

After a systematic review of secondary research and implementing a global version of the Utmost Competitive Landscape Analysis, we recommended an experience-driven branding profile. The following copy from Page’s website summarizes it well.

For more than ten years, Pages Bookshop has demonstrated that Detroit is a better place through creating and supporting a community of booklovers.

Now that you know who Pages Bookshop is, and where they’re located, the highest form of response is to make a trip to Pages! They are open Monday-Saturday, 11am to 5 pm. Please see how special an experience at Pages is. And while you’re at the shop, make sure to greet Pip the cat. She is an absolute charmer.
